Residential Developments

With skills and experience built up over several years working with the housebuilders, Iain Gaul Architects have designed and obtained consents for a large number of residential site layouts. The main objective is to create spaces and interesting streetscapes while ensuring that the layouts are designed to accommodate existing levels density coverage requirements are achieved. The drawings below provide examples of six projects of varying size.

South Queensferry

This large development is located on the southern of South Queensferry, next to the A90. Construction work on site is ongoing to provide 302 houses and 78 apartments. Iain Gaul Architects were appointed to design the layout of the houses and apartments and to assist in obtaining the planning consent. The central area of the layout has been designed to accommodate higher density housing with rows of terraced houses and apartment blocks with a central landscape space located around mature existing trees. The apartment blocks were designed by Iain Gaul Architects for Taylor Wimpey and now form part of their standard range.
